For Miodrag “Miki” Kovacic, this brand is more than truffles, maple syrup, sauces, and salt. It is the story of a life rebuilt, a family reconnected, and the belief that hope can return when you choose to take the next right step.
Family was the Anchor
Through every season of his life, family remained Miki’s anchor. Their love gave him something to return to, even through the hardest chapters.
Today, as a father of three, that love has become part of the mission behind TruffLove — a legacy built not only for his children, but for anyone who needs to believe that life can begin again.
Where the Roots Begin
Miki’s journey began in Serbia, a place shaped by family, tradition, hardship, and resilience.
Growing up during a time of war and uncertainty left a lasting mark, but so did the flavours, memories, and food traditions of home. Serbia became more than a place he came from — it became part of the soul of TruffLove.
A New Chapter in Canada
Canada became a new beginning — a place to rebuild, rediscover purpose, and carry old traditions into a new life.
Between Serbia and Canada, Miki found the foundation for something meaningful: the richness of European truffle tradition meeting the warmth of Canadian maple.
Food Became Language
Through years of travel, Miki discovered that every culture tells its story through food.
From Europe to Southeast Asia, from North Africa to the Caribbean, food became a way to connect with people across borders. A shared meal could turn strangers into friends. A single flavour could carry memory, identity, and belonging.
The Hardest Chapter
While one part of life was expanding, another part was breaking.
Addiction slowly pulled Miki away from the things he loved most — family, friendship, purpose, and connection. Eventually, he found himself homeless on the streets of Toronto, separated from the person he wanted to be and the life he hoped to build.
Returning to Hope
At one of his lowest points, Miki returned to his family in Serbia. He was searching for a way back — back to himself, back to food, and back to meaning.
Two places stayed in his heart: Serbia and Canada. One held his roots. The other held his new beginning. The question became simple: how could he bring them together?
The Question That Changed Everything
Then came the idea that would become TruffLove:
Would truffles be good with maple syrup?
Miki sent Canadian maple syrup to his family in Serbia and asked them to experiment with truffles in every form — grated, sliced, shredded, and crushed. They waited. They tested. They tasted.
Then the message came back:
“Miki, this is amazing.”
Pride. Purpose. Hope.
The truffle did not overpower the maple syrup. It deepened it. It made it richer, more aromatic, and more memorable.
In that moment, Miki felt something he had not felt in a long time: pride, purpose, and hope.
That was the beginning of TruffLove.
More Than a Brand
TruffLove became a symbol of two worlds meeting: Serbian truffle tradition and Canadian maple warmth.
From there, the collection grew into truffle salt, sauces, carpaccio, dried truffle, and whole black truffle — secret luxury ingredients made for modern kitchens.
But TruffLove was never only about food. It was always about hope.
